Märkte, Kamele, fremde Traditionen

Das erfasst unseren ersten Tag in Marokko komplett.
Zuerst besuchten wir die Medina von Tétouan. Darunter versteht man die "Altstadt" arabischer bzw. nordafrikanischer Städte. Hier erlebten einige von uns ihren ersten Kulturschock, denn die afrikanischen Märkte sind schon anders als europäische. Hygiene wird hier nicht ganz so groß geschrieben. Für mich aber war das eine super Gelegenheit, einen Einblick in die marokkanische Lebensart und Mentalität zu bekommen.

That pretty much sums up our first day in Morocco.
Firstly, we visited the "Medina" of Tétouan. That's what you call the old historic part of arabic respectively north african cities. I think lots of us experienced their first culture shock there, 'cause african markets really are different than european ones. Hygiene is hard to keep up in their climate conditions. But for me it was a perfect opportunity of gaining an insight into the moroccan way of life as well as the mentality of people.

Nun war es Zeit für Kamelreiten in Tangier. Das darf in Nordafrika natürlich nicht fehlen! Nach gefühlten tausend missglückten Kamel-Selfies, durfte jeder eine Runde auf diesen Tieren drehen. Nichts für empfindliche Nasen, war aber auf jeden Fall lustig.

 

english translation:

Now it was time for camel riding in Tangier. That shouldn't be missed in North africa of course! After thousands of unsuccessful attempts to get a good camel selfie, everybody was allowed to ride one round on top of a camel. Nothing for sensitive noses, but very funny!
